Mut8 Studios · Development

You’ll talk to the people building it.

Mut8 Studios is the development side of Mut8 — apps, tools, platforms and client work. Small enough that the person you brief is the person who writes the code, and close enough to the work to tell you when an idea is going to cost more than it’s worth.

What we do

Four kinds of work, one team.

We don’t split into departments or hand you to an account manager. The same small group scopes it, builds it and hands it over running.

Client & agency work

Someone else’s product, built properly. We take a brief, tell you honestly what it will take, and deliver something your own team can pick up and keep running afterwards.

Apps & products

Products we build and run ourselves, outside of games. Web and mobile, from the first prototype through to the thing people actually pay for.

Tools & automation

The unglamorous work that pays for itself. Internal tooling, integrations between systems that were never meant to talk, and automation for the jobs someone on your team is currently doing by hand.

Web platforms & sites

Browser-first work with real weight behind it — dashboards, portals, storefronts and the marketing sites that front them. Fast, accessible and maintainable, not a template with your logo dropped in.

How we work

Four stages, no surprises in the middle.

Every project runs the same way. You always know which stage you are in and what has to be true before the next one starts.

  1. Stage one

    Scope

We work out what you actually need, which is rarely the whole of what was asked for. You get a written scope with a price and a date, and the parts we think you should cut.

  2. Stage two

    Prototype

The riskiest part gets built first — the integration nobody is sure about, the flow nobody has tested. If something is going to sink the project, it surfaces here rather than three weeks from the deadline.

  3. Stage three

    Build

Delivered in working increments you can open and use, not a status report. You see the real thing every week and can change direction while changing direction is still cheap.

  4. Stage four

    Hand over

Deployed, documented and transferred into your accounts — not ours. You own the code, the infrastructure and the ability to hire someone else next time. We stay on only if you want us to.

Straight answer

We’re new, and there are upsides.

Mut8 Studios is a new company with no public client list yet. We’re not going to invent one. Here is what you get instead of a wall of logos.

  • Direct access. No account manager, no relay, no note-taker in the meeting who cannot answer your question.
  • Sharper pricing than a studio carrying an office and a sales team, because we are not carrying either.
  • We say no. A small team cannot afford a project it does not believe in, so you get an honest answer early.
  • You can see how we build. Mut8 Labs is our own games work, made in the open — the standards are the same.

The other half

And then there’s the games.

Mut8 Labs is our independent games studio — the same people, the same standards, a completely different problem. It is where we take the risks with our own time instead of someone else’s budget.

Ideas go in, something stranger comes out. First game in the tank, built in the open.

Tell us what you’re trying to build.

Rough ideas are fine — part of the job is working out what the thing actually is. If it isn’t a fit we’ll say so and point you somewhere better.

Worth including

  • What the thing is meant to do, in your own words.
  • Who it’s for, and roughly how many of them.
  • Any deadline that actually matters, and why.
  • A budget range — it saves us both a fortnight.
